Welcome to Lux Helsinki 4–8 Jan

Lux Helsinki lights up the city along a new route on 4-8 January 2020! Installations are open to the public daily from 5 pm to 10 pm. If you want to avoid the biggest crowds, you might want to pop in at Kämp Galleria first for some eats & drinks or fantastic season sale treats and catch the magnificent light installations later on in the evening!

Lux Helsinki is a bright spot in the winter that will once again present a diverse range of top Finnish and international light art from 4 to 8 January 2020. The official route comprises nine installations and stretches from Senate Square through Kaisaniemi Park to the beautiful Tokoinranta shoreline. The route is designed as a dramaturgical series that should be seen in numerical order from start to finish.

The light art festival presents a diverse range of light art in different forms along a new route each year stretching for more than a kilometre along the streets of the Finnish capital. In addition to highlighting some of the most iconic buildings in Helsinki, the route also reveals less familiar courtyards and façades. In addition to the nine main installations along the route, the light festival will feature six satellite installations and groups of installations outside the city centre.

R/H has opened a store in Kämp Galleria!

Finnish women’s and children’s clothing brand R/H has opened a store in Kämp Garden, the centre of Finnish fashion, Kämp Galleria’s second floor. Come check out the iconic Mickey shirts & dresses and other fun designs!

R/H represents the women that women like. Without barriers. Easy. Women who connect with women. Women who women relate to. Women who women have fun with, enjoy the company of, wanna hang out with. We want to be the women in which other women find themselves. Enduring female icons.

Hanna Riiheläinen and Emilia Hernesniemi founded R/H in 2010, in Helsinki Finland, after working in different areas of fashion and design. Through a diverse and international experience, both women came to understand the value of a local production practice, which became the operative principle of the company. All R/H clothes and accessories are designed in Finland, raw materials are sourced and manufactured in European Union. R/H believes that this local, sustainable practice is essential for well-being.

The Maker Bazaar is back!

The Maker Bazaar is back after a short summer hiatus in Hanko. The store is located on the first floor in Kämp Galleria, easily accessible from both Kluuvikatu and Aleksanterinkatu. Opening hours are  Mon-Fri 10–19, Sat 10–17.

The Maker Bazaar is an extension to The Maker Journal. The bazaar expands on the concept of artisanal fashion and makers in a contemporary context through a fresh shopping experience. The Maker Bazaar guarantees that the brands sold through the website have been examined and their supply chains deemed ethical.

The clothing, bags and shoes sold on the bazaar preserve artisanal skills and traditions, whilst modernising those practices. You can research the makers extensively on the platform, as well as be informed about the products through extensive information about materials, production process, dyes and their social impact.

TRANSPARENCY

For us, transparency is the first and most important step for the fashion industry. If customers are more aware of the supply chains of their garments, they can make more informed decisions. Knowing and revealing your supply chain is important for makers, as it builds trust and honesty. Find out more about supply chains in product descriptions.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability stems from the actual making process of the garment. Some makers have sustainable dyeing processes, some have sustainable fibres in their materials and some have sustainable manufacturing processes or all of the above. Customers on our website will find out what is sustainable about the product in the description on The Maker Bazaar.

QUALITY

After transparency and sustainability, quality is important for the longevity of the garment. The products on this website have been carefully curated for the skilled craftsmanship, tailoring and know how behind them, which you can read more about in the description. Quality ensures products won’t be chucked carelessly in the landfill.
